Today was another hot, partly cloudy day. After their morning activities, the students had their Friday challenge time, when they focus a few minutes in the morning on a particular school topic to study.

今日は晴れたり曇ったりした暑い一日でした。朝の活動のあと，児童生徒は金曜日のチャレンジタイムに取り組みました。

Today the 5^th and 6^th graders had their English class. They practiced saying the names of different countries in English. After that, they practiced using "What do you want to~?" and "I want to be~". The students were able to recognize the questions they were asked well, and responded to them correctly, too!

今日小学校５・６年生は外国語の授業がありました。まず子供たちは様々な国の名前の言い方を英語で練習しました。それから，「What do you want to~」と「I want to be~」という表現を学びました。児童はこの疑問文をよく聞き取れて，そして正しく答えることもできました。Good job!

Today's lunch: milk, a healthy snack mix, a miso, butter veggie sauté, a rice ball, and a bowl of ramen.

Today's after school activity was brass band. The students split up based on instruments, and practiced our school's song, our village's theme, and Paprika. Many of the students are picking up new instruments this year, and despite only having brass band practice a few times now, they have made a lot of progress! We can't wait to be able to jam together as a whole!

放課後は金管バンドの練習でした。児童生徒は分かれて，校歌，十島の歌，そしてパプリカという曲を練習しました。今年度楽器に新たに挑戦している児童生徒もいて，とてもいいペースで進めることができました！Wow! 私たちは合同で演奏できるようになるのを楽しみにしています。

　今日は昨日の悪天候とは変わり，青空が広がる暖かい１日となりました。

　本校では給食の際に，その日の献立の紹介と，ひとくちメモというものを行っています。今日は小学２年生のＨさんが初めて給食の放送を担当をしました。すごく緊張していた様子でしたが，堂々と放送をしてくれました。

　５時間目は，小中合同体育で「ハードル」を行いました。前回４０ｍ走を行い自分に合った目標タイムを設定しました。今日はスローモーションでの映像を確認して，どのようにすればもっと早く，テンポよく走れるかをグループに分かれディスカッションしながら考えを深めました。

This morning brought rain with it, moving everyone into the gym for the morning activity. Today the students practiced their jump roping skills. After receiving their jump rope mission cards, the students began trying the different challenges.They were jump roping forwards, backwards, on one leg, alternating legs, it was a sight to see!

今朝は雨が降っていたので，児童生徒は体育館で朝活動をしました。今日の活動は縄跳びの練習でした。縄跳びチャレンジカードをもらってから，可能なわざにチャレンジし始めました。とてもすごい風景でした。みんなよくできました。

This morning, our school also had its monthly school assembly. Today the vice principle gave the students a speech about the importance of treating everyone around you with kindness, and reaching out to those who look like they could use some help. It was a good lesson to pass on to the students. Thank you for your speech!

今朝全校朝会もありました。今回は教頭先生に，周りにいる人を優しく扱う大切さについてのスピーチをいただきました。児童生徒に伝えるとてもいい教訓でした。教頭先生，ありがとうございました！

　今日は雨が降ったり，暑くなったりと天気の落ち着かない１日となりました。

　午後からは，今年度２度目の研究授業がありました。今回は中学部２年生担任のＲ先生が数学の授業を行いました。主題は「文字式による説明」でした。生徒の２人は多くの先生が見ていたこともあったのか，すごく緊張している様子でした。

　そんな中でも，本校の最高学年生として素晴らしい姿勢を見せてくれたと思います。

After a rainy and windy weekend, today was a very nice and sunny day. The students began their morning with a jog, followed by tending to their designated flower areas. Today was a hot day, so they made sure to give their flowers plenty of water.

雨が降ったり，風が吹いたりした週末のあと，今日はとてもいい天気になりました。児童生徒はモーニングランを頑張ったあと，担当している花壇に水をかけました。今日は暑かったので，児童生徒はしっかりと水をたっぷり与えることができました。

Today the 3^rd and 4^th graders had their weekly English class. For today's lesson, they learned numbers, along with a guest appearance from the 2^nd grader! First the students practiced saying the numbers with our school's ALT. After, the students played a pointing game where they pointed to the numbers being called out by the teachers. Next the students practiced their listening skills by listening to numbers in different languages, and matching the numbers to the country. Lastly, the students played a number bingo game! All of the kids were able to recognize, and pronounce the numbers really well today! Good job everyone!

今日小学３・４年生には外国語の授業がありました。今回の授業で小学２年生と一緒に数の言い方に取り組みました。まず，子どもたちはＡＬＴと一緒に言い方を練習しました。練習のあと，ポインティングゲームに入りました。それからいろいろな国の数の言い方を聞いて，どの国のかを推測することを通して，聞き取りの技術を練習しました。最後に数のビンゴゲームを楽しみました。英語の数の言い方をよく聞いたり，言ったりできました！みんなよく頑張りました！

Today's lunch: milk, a lightly dressed salad, miso and sesame grilled fish, bamboo rice, and Japanese clear soup.

　今日は，みんなが楽しみにしていたお弁当給食でした。小学部はフリイ岳，中学部はカワでお弁当を食べる予定を立てていましたが，天候不良のため小学部はくちっこ園で中学部は体育館で食べました。

　雨が降ってしまったのは残念でしたが，いつもとは違った雰囲気での給食を楽しむことができたと思います。

Yesterday was another cloudy, but warm day. For their morning activity, the students practiced horizontal bar exercises. Some of our students were practicing back hip circles, while others were practicing front knee spins. During this practice, one of our students was able to do their first back hip circle! Good job! Another one of our students was able to do five front knee flips. Wow!

昨日も，曇りで暖かい一日でした。朝活動に児童生徒は鉄棒の運動を練習しました。後方支持回転を練習していた児童生徒がいれば，前方ひざかけ回転を練習していた児童生徒もいました。当日の練習で生徒のうちに一人は初めての後方支持回転できました。Good job! 他の生徒は前方ひざかけ回転 を５回連続でできました。Wow!

Yesterday our ALT paid a visit to the island's preschool. Due to the corona virus, last month's visit was canceled, so this visit had been long awaited. It began with some dancing. Everyone danced the shrimp-crab dance. After that the students practiced the English names for some colours. The preschoolers were able to say the names really well. After practicing, it was game time! This visit's game line-up was a colour hunting game, followed by a memorization game, then a colour musical chair game. All the kids really enjoyed the games. After game time was over, it was time for our ALT to return to the school. All the preschoolers were able to say and recognize the colour names well! Good job everyone!

昨日は学校のＡＬＴがくちっこ園に来ました。新型ウイルスの影響で先月の英語遊びは中止されたので，今回の訪問が待ち遠しかったです。まずはもちろんダンスでした。今回の踊りはエビカニクスになりました。そして子供たちはＡＬＴと一緒に英語の色の言い方を練習しました。そのあとゲームタイムになりました。今回のゲームメニューはカーラ―ハント，そして記憶ゲーム，最後に色椅子取りゲームでした。子供たちはゲームを楽しそうにやっていました。ゲームが終わってから，ＡＬＴが学校に戻りました。くちっこ園の子供たちは色の英語の言い方はよく聞いたり，言ったりしました。Nice!

　今日は，体育の時間に発表会を行いました。今年度は，小中合同で体育の授業を行っていますが，小学部の単元が「鉄棒」だったため，中学部は「バスケットボール」を行いました。先週から，４時間を使い小学部は「連続技」を，中学部は「レイアップ」の練習をしました。

　今日の発表会前は児童生徒ともに緊張していた様子でしたが，小中ともに授業で学んだことをしっかりと披露することができていたと思います。

　今日も昨日に続き，暖かい１日となりました。

　今日は今年度最初の，バドミントン部の活動がありました。新型コロナウイルスの影響で，約３ヶ月ぶりの活動になりました。児童生徒も再開を心待ちにしていたようで，張り切って取り組んでいました。今年度から本校に来た小学部Ｈくん，中学部Ｋくんも楽しそうに参加していました。

　これから更に上達していく児童生徒の様子をブログでも報告していきたいと思います。

　今日は，久しぶりに１日を通して良い天気になりました。

　また今日は，今年度最初の研究授業がありました。小学部５・６年生担任のＨ先生が社会の授業を行いました。５年生は「低い土地のくらし」について，６年生は「子育て支援の願いを実現する政治」について学びました。普段よりも多くの先生方がいる中での授業となりましたが，さすがは５・６年生，落ち着いて授業に取り組むことができていたと思います。

Today starts off the third week of May. The weather was gloomy, much like the weekend had been. But despite the gloom, our students began the day strong, with an 8-minute morning jog. After the run, the students tended to their flower areas. By noon, it had begun to rain. Luckily, it only rained for a short time.

今日は５月の３週目です。今朝の天気はちょっと曇りで，先週の週末と一緒です。曇りの天気ですが，児童生徒は負けないようにして，８分間のモーニングランをしました。ランの後，担当の花壇の掃除作業に取りかかりました。お昼までにすごい雨が降り出しました。幸いなことに，しばらくしてやみました。

During their English class, the 8^th graders practiced their writing skills. Since we weren't able to leave the island during Golden Week, the students wrote about their spring vacations. After spending some time on their compositions, they presented their writings to the class. Good job guys!

中学２年生は英語授業で書く能力を練習しました。５月の連休の時に島を離れることはなかなかできなかったので，生徒には今年の春休みについて書いてもらいました。そして書き終わったあと，発表してもらいました。二人ともよくできました！

For 3^rd period, our ALT came to the 3^rd and 4^th grade elementary school class for their weekly English lesson. Today's topic was the weather. After reviewing the words relating to the weather, it was time for some listening practice. The students were able to pick up the English words well. Good job everyone! After the listening practice, it was time for a game! Today's game was a weather gesture game. And it was a big hit! They practiced asking about the weather, and how to reply many times, and had fun doing it! Nice!

３時間目に学校のＡＬＴが小３４の外国語授業に来ました。今日のテーマは英語で天気を表すことでした。天気に関する単語を練習した後，聞き取りの練習に入りました。子供たちはよく聞き取ることができました。それからゲームの時間でした。今日は天気ジェスチャーゲームで，大ヒットでした。児童はゲームを通して，天気について聞いたり，正しい答え方を練習したりして，楽しんでいました。いいですね。

After recess, all the students had their all-grade P.E. class. For today's session, the students worked on their fundamental movement skills. To practice these skills, the students skipped, jumped, and ran from one side of the gym to the other. After this, they practiced their jumping rhythms using small hurdles.

昼休みの後，児童生徒は小中合同授業がありました。今日は基本動作の練習をしました。そのために，児童生徒は体育館の端から端までスキップしたり，ジャンプしたりしました。それから，ミニハードルを使って，ジャンプのリズムの練習をしました。

　昨日の放課後に、今年度初めての「金管バンド」の活動がありました。小学部のＫ先生のあいさつの後、リーダーの紹介がありました。今年度は６年生のＹさんがリーダーをすることになりました。

　その後は、新型コロナウイルスに配慮をし、各教室に分かれて練習をしました。今年度から本校に来た、小学部のＨくんや中学部のＫくんも、友達に教えてもらいながら、練習をしました。初めてとは思えないくらいのできだったようです。文化祭での演奏を１つの大きな目標にみんなで協力しながら取り組んでいきたいと思います。

Today was a cloudy, but warm day. Our students began their day with a morning run. After that, it was time to tend to all the lovely flowers we have at our school. After the morning activities were finished, our school's elementary school and middle school had their separate morning meetings. For the middle school meeting, two of our students gave speeches, one about their life so far on the island, and the other about their goals for the year. After their speeches, one of our middle school teachers also gave a presentation to the students.

今日はちょっと曇りですが，暖かい日でした。児童生徒はまずはモーニングランを頑張って，そして校内の花に水をかけました。その後，小中別朝会がありました。中学校の朝会では生徒は二人スピーチをしました。一つ目は今までの島生活についてのスピーチで，二つ目は今からの目標についてのスピーチでした。生徒の発表の後，中学部の先生にも講話をしてもらいました。

For P.E. today, our students all ran shuttle runs! After warming up with some skipping and jumping relays, they were ready to challenge the shuttle run. It was definitely a sight to see! Our students really pushed themselves today! Good job everyone!

今日の体育の授業には児童生徒はみんなシャトルランに挑戦してみました。スキップやジャンピングの練習をしてから，シャトルランに挑む準備ができました。児童生徒はみなよく頑張りました。皆さん，よくできました！

　今日の朝は小中別朝会がありました。中学部の朝会では、２年生のＫくんとＹくんに今年度の目標を発表してもらいました。今日発表した目標を達成できるように１日１日を大切に過ごしてほしいと思います。

　３時間目の小中合同体育では「シャトルラン」を行いました。走る人と数える人の２グループに分けて実施しました。数えている人や、先生方から応援をしてもらい走りきることができていました。年末にもう一度測定する際には、全員＋１０を目標にしようということで授業を終えました。その目標を達成できるような朝の体力づくり、体育の授業作りをしていきたいと思います。

　今日の朝は天候不良のため、体育館で体力づくりを行いました。

　本校では、中学生と５、６年生が朝の放送を行っています。内容は、おすすめの本紹介やなぞなぞ、詩の朗読など様々です。その中で、「私の見つけた新聞記事」というコーナーもあり、今日は５、６年生がどの記事を紹介しようか気になる記事を探していました。口之島には下り便がある日しか新聞が来ないので、子どもたちにとっては新聞をじっくり読むいい機会になっています。

This past weekend on Saturday, all the schools in Toshima Village gathered around their TV conference systems for the monthly meeting between all the schools. For this month's meeting, it was our school who was in charge of the activity for the session. Instead of the usual recreation, our school showcased two videos taken during last year's culture festival: one of our brass band, and one of the students performing Eisa. Our students were very happy to show the other schools what they had been practicing all year long, and even more happy after hearing the great comments from the other schools. Thank you for watching our presentations!

　先週の土曜日にはトカラ集会があって，担当は本校でした。今回の発表では昨年度の文化祭で発表した金管バンドの演奏とエイサーのパフォーマンスの動画を見せました。児童生徒は十島村の全ての学校にその動画を嬉しそうに見せましたが，他の学校の児童生徒にもらった発表の感想を聞いて，さらに嬉しくなりました。みんなさん今回の発表を見てくださってありがとうございました。

After the school TV conference was over, it was time to start the sketching event! Our students, after finding interesting and dynamic scenes, began tackling the task of drawing them out. Our middle school students all chose really scenes, and made very good progress in the time they had today. They were all able to map out their drawings really well, and fill in many of the details. We are all excited to see the end result! Good job everyone!

　トカラ集会のあと，今年度のスケッチ大会が始まりました。児童生徒は，とてもおもしろく，ダイナミックな風景を見つけてから，その風景を描き始めました。中学生はとてもいい風景を選んで，とてもいいペースで進めることができました。私たちもその絵の結果を見るのを楽しみにしています。

　今日は、３時間目に全体で「風水害」についての避難訓練を実施しました。まず、図書室に集まり、小学部のＫ先生に全体指導をして頂きました。その後は、風水害についてのビデオを見て危険な行動や場所、災害時の対応について学びました。

　最後に学校の周りの危険な場所や起こりうることを想定しながら歩きました。もし、災害が起きてもいち早く避難し、対応できるようにもう一度各自で学んだことを振り返ってほしいと思います。

　今日は、今年度最初の「トカラ集会」があり、本校が担当を務めました。初めに、みんなの緊張もほぐれるようにと、中学部のＹくんがみんなの前でじゃんけんをしてくれました。

　その後は、本校のことを知ってもらおうという事で、昨年度の文化祭で行った「ひまわりの約束」の演奏と、「エイサー」の映像をみてもらいました。

　集会後は、「スケッチ大会」を行いました。下書きの途中まで終わらせることができたので、後日下書きの続き、そして色塗りを各授業で行う予定です。どんな絵に仕上がるのかが、今から楽しみです。

　今日から臨時登校が始まりました。子どもたちも久しぶりに顔を合わせることができ、嬉しそうでした。今日は、今年来られた先生方や児童生徒のために歓迎のつどいを行いました。伝統的に取り組んでいるエイサーから「ミルクムナリ」の演技を披露しました。新型コロナウイルスの影響でほとんど練習ができていない中でも一生懸命の演技を披露してくれました。

　次に、口之島や学校の紹介を行い、金管バンドで「校歌」と「としまの歌」の演奏を行いました。こちらも久しぶりの演奏でしたが、きれいなメロディを奏でることができました。これも昨年度の練習の賜物です。発表のあとは、OXクイズなどのレクリエーションを行いました。みんなの意外？な一面を知ることができ、職員、児童生徒そしてくちっこ園の子どもたちの仲もさらに深まったようです。

　また、今日は諏訪瀬島の看護師さんから児童生徒に手作りのマスクをいただき、その贈呈式も行いました。貴重なマスク、これから大切に使っていきたいと思います。

　２０１１年から更新していた本校のブログも、昨日の記事で１０００件を達成しました。まず、今まで更新し続けてくださった先生方にこの場を借りて、感謝を申し上げます。

　また、このブログの記事の多くは学校行事や、地域行事について掲載しています。これらの行事等は、地域の方々の支えのおかげで成り立っています。改めて感謝申し上げます。

　これからも本校、そして口之島の事を、もっとたくさんの人に深く知ってもらえるようブログ・HPの更新を続けていきたいと思います。
