　今日は,くちっこ園主催の節分の豆まき大会を行いました。くちっこ園からは３名の園児が参加をしてくれました。最初に自分の追い出したい鬼を１人ずつ発表しました。「面倒くさがりな鬼」や「朝が苦手な鬼」などそれぞれの鬼を発表してくれました。その後はくちっこ園が作ってくれた玉入れや神経衰弱をみんなで楽しみました。明日に控えたコロナワクチンのことを考え,今年は早めの実施となった節分のイベントでしたが,みんなで楽しく行うことができたと思います。

Kuchikko-En held a big Setsubun activity at our school today. All three of the preschoolers attended the event. First, all the students presented what their self-improvement goals were. After that, the students enjoyed playing two games, a ball toss, and a memory game.

　今日の５・６時間目の時間に小学生はクラブ活動で,「カップケーキ」と「フレンチトースト」を作りました。初めて作る児童も多く,実習前は不安な点もありましたが,全員で協力して作りました。結果は,見事大成功！先生方にも食べて頂き大成功の実習となりました。

Today the elementary school students made cupcakes and French toast during their fifth and sixth period club activity time. It was the first time for many of the students to make these treats, so they were nervous at first. But everyone worked together, and the results were delicious! They even made enough for the other teachers, too!

　今日の６時間目に,小学５・６年生は「家庭科」の授業がありました。家庭科の授業では５年生がランチョンマットを,６年生がバッグの製作に挑戦しました。ミシンを使いながら,それぞれがオリジナルの作品を製作しました。今まで学習したことを活かし,よい作品を作り上げることができたのではないでしょうか。

Today during sixth period, the fifth and sixth graders had home economics. For today's lesson, the fifth graders attempted to make a placemat, while the sixth graders tackled making a bag. The students created their original pieces using a sewing machine. They used everything they have learned so far, and created some nice pieces.

Our ALT visited the island's preschool for another English lesson today. This session was Setsubun themed, so first they decorated plastic bags to make the 'oni'. As they made them, they practiced saying the parts of the face in English. The mouths were made into a pocket, and they played a ball tossing game! There were many exciting rounds! After each round they counted how many balls were made in English. It was a very fun English lesson!

　今日は学校のALTがくちっこ園を訪れました。今回は節分というテーマにした英語遊びだったので，最初はビニール袋を飾って鬼を作りました。作りながら顔のところを英語で勉強しました。口はポケットにして，玉入れのゲームを行って盛り上がりました！ゲームごとに入った玉を英語で数えました。とても楽しい英語遊びになりました。

　今週は学校給食週間です。今日の給食には島民の方が育てた「田芋」をコロッケにして頂きました。また昼休みの時間に調理員さんの方に,児童生徒から感謝状を渡しました。今年度は毎日,学校のために1人で給食を用意してくださっています。そういった方々への感謝の気持ちを忘れず,これからも学校生活を送っていきましょう。

This week is school lunch appreciation week. For today's lunch, the croquettes were made using potatoes that we received from one of the islanders. During their afternoon recess, the students presented the school lunch cook with a card expressing their appreciation for the delicious school lunches. This year, the school lunch cook has been working by themselves to provide the daily school lunches. We would like to continue to express our gratitude to the school cook for our wonderful school lunches! Thank you so much!

　今日の５時間目の体育の時間に「跳び箱」を行いました。今日は今年度初めてということで,準備・片付けの仕方の確認と授業の流れについての学習を行いました。それぞれが自分の目標を達成できるようにこれから練習を重ねていきましょう。

Today the students practiced vaulting box exercises in P.E. class. This was the first lesson of the school year, so the students practiced setting up and putting away the vaulting boxes, as well as the order of the exercises. The students will begin practicing to achieve their vaulting box goals.

　今日の６時間目に,小学部はクラブ活動で「逃走中」を行いました。１回目は,５・６年生が１人ずつハンターに,２回目はスペシャルゲストとして本物のハンターに２人来てもらいました。途中の復活ミッションや,ボールなどのアイテムを使いルールをオリジナルにしたことでより盛り上がるゲームとなりました。走り続け終わった頃には全員くたくたでしたがとても楽しい思い出ができたのではないでしょうか。

Today the elementary school students played two rounds of 'Chase' during sixth period. For the first round, a fifth and a sixth grader were the hunters. For the second round, two real hunters were called in as special guests. Both rounds were very exciting, thanks to the original rules that the students came up with themselves. Everyone was tired by the end due to the off and on sprinting, but it was definitely a very fun time for all.

　今日は小中別朝会が行われました。小学生は体育館で都道府県かるたを行いました。いつもとは少し違い,大きなフィールドでのかるたでしてがみんなで盛り上がり楽しく行うことができました。中学生は「十年後の私」というテーマの作文を発表しました。これから高校・大学・専門学校・就職などたくさんの進路が待っています。今ある目標,これからできる目標を１つ１つ大切にこれからも生活をしていってほしいと思います。

Today the elementary and middle schools held separate morning assemblies. The elementary school played karuta using Japan's prefectures. It was a little different than the usual, since the playing field was much larger, but they really enjoyed the games. Meanwhile for the middle school assembly, a student presented a speech titled, "Me in Ten Years." There are many steps in store for our students' career paths: high school, university, technical school, job hunting etc. Whether it's a current goal, or one to come, we hope our students continue to work hard towards achieving them.

　今日の３時間目に地震・火事の「避難訓練」を行いました。島の消防団の方にも来て頂きました。最近,十島村では大きな地震が発生したり,津波警報が出たりと自然災害の心配が続いています。地震や火事が発生しても慌てず迅速に対応できるように日頃から準備をしておきましょう。

Our school held an earthquake, fire disaster evacuation drill today during third period. One of the island's fire fighters came out to talk to our students. Recently, our village has experience earthquakes, and tsunami warnings, increasing the worry about natural disasters. We hope to stay prepared to be able to respond quickly to any natural disaster that may occur.

　今日の５時間目に体育がありました。体育では３月に行われる予定の「なわとび大会」向けての練習を少しずつ行っています。持久跳びでは少しでも長く,大縄では少しで多く跳べるようにこれから練習を重ねていきたいと思います。

　その後は「バレー」を行いました。今日はアタックの練習と「アタックゲーム」を行いました。小中合同ということもありルールを工夫しながらみんなが楽しめる授業づくりをしていきたいと思います。

Today the students had P.E. class during fifth period. In P.E. class, they have been practicing for the jump rope event scheduled for March. We hope that with each practice, they can jump rope a little longer for the stamina event, and jump a few more times in the team jumping events.

After that, the students practiced playing volleyball. Today they practiced their offense in a spiking game. All our students take P.E. together, so we would like to create lessons that they all can enjoy.

　今日は,今年初めてのトカラ集会がありました。今回の担当校は宝島で十島村にまつわるクイズを５問出してくれました。難しい問題もあり,苦戦していた様子でしたが今まで知らなかった事を学ぶことのできる機会になったのではないでしょうか。次の担当校は口之島です。どんな集会になるのか今から楽しみですね。

We had the first Tokara Village school assembly of the year. Today's leader was Takarajima, and they quizzed everyone about the Toshima Village. The questions were very difficult, but it was a great chance to learn many new things about Toshima! Our school is in charge of the next assembly, so please be excited for it!

　今日の５時間目に「受験生のつどい」がありました。７島の受験生が集まって,先生方に面接官になってもらい「集団模擬面接」を行いました。普段の面接練習とは違い緊張した中での面接となりましたが,本番に向けて良い練習になったのではないでしょうか。来週からいよいよ受験生は上鹿したりと忙しくなってきます。本番に向けてもう一度気を引き締めて準備を進めていきたいと思います。「チーム３年」みんなで戦いましょう。

Today during fifth period, there was a meeting for the ninth students, who have been preparing for their high school entrance exams and interviews. All seven of the islands' ninth graders joined, and were all interviewed by some of the teachers. This was a great chance for them to practice, since they will begin to leave the islands for their exams next week. We hope that they are working hard for their exams and interviews. Let's go Team Toshima Third Years!

　今日は,３学期の始業式が行われました。教頭先生のお話では,冬休みの過ごし方の振り返りや来月から開幕予定の「冬季オリンピック」について話をして頂きました。児童生徒の代表あいさつでは６年生のKさんと中学２年のYさんが決意を発表してくれました。３学期は少し短いですが,思い出に残る充実した学校生活をみんなで送っていきましょう。

The opening ceremony for the third semester was held today. The vice principle spoke to the students about their winter vacation, and about the upcoming winter Olympics. Two of our students also spoke to the school about their goals for the third semester. The third semester is a little shorter, but we hope to make many memories.
