Nov. 23 (Saturday)
Recently, it has been very, VERY windy. That was the case today as well, with the wind swirling throughout the entire day. That couldn't stop the villagers from coming out to achieve Fall Ground Golf glory here on Akusekijima. With the wind being so strong, everyone was in for a challenging, yet enjoyable course at the school field.
A total of 48 came out Saturday to enjoy the game, crack a few jokes, and enjoy the breezy Autumn weather. The children were as energetic as ever, making sure to get in a few practice strokes before the actual competition started. After warming up, everyone took their places, enjoying themselves, the company of others, and some cold and warm "Mugicha".
The competition was fierce as regardless of the windy conditions, everyone was really strong in their play. On debatably the trickiest hole, one of our veteran Ground Golfers happened to nail a hole-in-one, which set the standard for what type of competition it was going to be. Before the end of the day, we ended up having 3 playoff rounds, with the women's playoff having 3 ROUNDS! It was an epic watch, with the result being decided with "Rock, Paper, Scissors"; the only way to end such an intense battle.
Overall, everyone seemed to enjoy the time in the super windy weather to have a super afternoon with each other. Congratulations to our Fall champions and we hope to see everyone for the next tournament :D.
